SoliTek Announces Sustainability Report for year 2023
SoliTek shares key activities and achievements in sustainability for 2023.
For a company dedicated to creating sustainable products, incorporating sustainability into the manufacturing process was a given, something almost not worth mentioning. Unfortunately, the reality is somewhat different. While solar modules are indeed a symbol of sustainability, the majority of them produced in China are made using vast amounts of fossil fuels. Moreover, most Chinese solar modules are made from plastic, making them nearly impossible to recycle and cutting their lifespan in half. Choosing Chinese-made solar modules to combat climate change is like trying to extinguish a fire with gasoline.
SoliTek takes a different path. As a manufacturer of solar panels and energy storage systems, it's not enough that their products inherently aim to reduce CO2 emissions on our planet. SoliTek continually seeks new ways to make their products even more sustainable and to leave the smallest possible CO2 footprint.
In 2023, SoliTek became the first and only solar module manufacturer in the world to receive the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Gold certification. The company dedicated an entire year to achieving this certification, making it their primary sustainability goal for 2022, and they accomplished it successfully.
Last year, SoliTek took their sustainability efforts even further. They became the first and only solar module manufacturer to sign a voluntary cooperation agreement with module recyclers LuxChemtech in Germany. Inspired by SoliTek's example, even a German solar module manufacturer followed suit last year.
In 2023, SoliTek managed to halve their already exceptionally low CO2 emissions, which were 0.02 kg/Kw the previous year. Unfortunately, the solar module and smart storage manufacturer couldn't significantly reduce emissions further while testing recycled polymers, as their Norwegian partners involved in this project went bankrupt.
In 2023, SoliTek successfully achieved three out of six of their set sustainability goals. Two additional goals were partially met and will continue to be pursued, while one goal, as mentioned, could not be achieved.
Without a doubt, SoliTek will continue its sustainability journey into 2024, with two ambitious goals already outlined in the report. They are committed to sharing their results with you.
